Get To Know: Happy Arty Days

Justine Durrant

I had the wonderful job of getting to know Amanda who is the creator of happy_arty_days, who creates amazing scrapbooking and paper craft pages, amongst other arts. Her work is truly gorgeous and inspirational.

A word from the designer:

My name is Amanda-Jayne Baldwin, Amanda or AJ (or even @happy_arty_days) and I am a children's Art Educator at Little Picassos, in sunny Adelaide (South Australia). I am a mum to two amazing children, and wife to one incredibly patient man - they're my sunshine, my light and inspire everything I create!

I pretty much live in the studio - creating everyday, & that's just the way I like it! I am absolutely passionate about Visual Arts, and am a devout memory keeper! I love photography, painting, art journaling, mixed media, textiles, scrapbooking and papercrafting.

I began scrapbooking when my then 3yold daughter asked to see photos of me when I was little & I realised that I had not one photograph from my childhood in my possession. And so began my furious determination to document everything!
In 2014, I decided to submit three of my creations to Australian Scrapbooking Memories magazine (the biggest scrapbooking publication in Australia) - all 3 were published and so began my 'professional' papercrafting journey. This 'small' step gave me the confidence to apply for my first design team - Couture Creations, which still holds dear to my heart!

I am currently on manufacturing Design Teams for Cocoa Vanilla Studio, Kaisercraft, Imaginarium Designs, & Studio Fourteen40. I also love having a bit of scrappy fun; so you'll also find me on the challenge blog DT for Scrap The Boys. I have had numerous Guest Designer opportunities, had my creations featured at CHA for the past 2 years, featured in other paper crafting exhibitions, and been published in numerous magazines. Let's just say it's been a super fun and crazy ride!

Last year I also fell into the 'planner' crowd - and its safe to say that I am now a self-confessed Planner junkie! Oh how I love to document everything! ;)
I would describe my style as fun, fresh, contemporary and with a feminine twist! And I just LOVE pretty things!!!

From the Maker Heart Team:

Thank you so much for the opportunity to get to know you and thank you for sharing a glimpse of your life with us. Your work is truly beautiful and inspirational and we hope to see a lot more of your work on Maker Heart. Thank you for taking the time to do this article.

Show Amanda some love and support and pop on over to her social media pages for more beautiful paper art.
