xoxRufus is another fabulous designer from Instagram. I love finding these little gems on Instagram with tremendous talent and creativity. I absolutely love her charms!
A word from the Designer:
Hello! I'm Ruth Thompson, I'm nearly 21 and am a third year university student from England and I run the YouTube channel xoxRufus and the Etsy shop Kawaii Studios. I work with polymer clay and also design graphic acrylic pieces. I sell both jewellery and planner charms on my shop. I can't really remember how it started but I believe i was introduced to polymer clay by a friend when I was around 11 years old, and I have been creating with clay ever since.
What inspires me? This is a very hard question to answer because I rarely ever feel 'inspired', usually an idea will pop into my head and from there I will make a few new pieces that I love, that's when I feel 'inspired'. However I feel so motivated following others on Instagram, recently my wonderful friend Lianne (@dacraftylilninja) has just been blowing my mind with her talent and every time she pops up on my Instagram feed I feel the need to start crafting. I find I get my motivation from others for sure but inspiration is something I just can't seek out it has to just come to me.
It sounds weird to say I own a business but yes I own an online jewellery shop on Etsy called Kawaii Studios. Due to the fact that I'm still at university I can't work full time on it so although it's my only income it's more of a part time job. After university I still do not plan to do my shop full time as I worry it will become something I do not enjoy, but you never know where life will take you so who knows?
I have so many ambitions for my shop, I always have at least 5 or 6 projects rattling around my brain that I don't have the time or the funds to get off the ground easily. I want to make acrylic paperclips, new necklaces, phone cases, stickers, you name it! Hopefully I can start ticking them off the list at some point!
