Maya Road Sewing Kit

Shelley Haganman

I know I say this every time....but I LOVE Maya Road! I really do! When I was presented with my list of products to use for CHA-W 2010 I knew that I wanted to do something just a little different than a mini album. Caroline and Deb had just shown us the incredible new Sew Cute products and other sewing themed items and I decided I wanted to do a sewing kit using some of the new products and one of my favorites the 5x7 chipboard binder book.

To create the cover I simply cut a piece of fabric about an inch wider than the album and adhered it using Fabri-tac. Next, I cut a piece of chipboard the size of the inside covers. First I covered one side of this piece of chipboard with patterned paper and then wrapped a piece of fabric about and inch wider than the page and adhered it to the chipboard to create a "pocket"!

To make the inside pages I first painted them. The first two pages I adhered Maya Road ribbon around the page and added pins through the fabric to hold them. A little addition of some Maya Road rub-ons adds just a little something to these pages too!

The next page I made some bobbin/thread holders. First take a kraft journal card mark where you would like your bobbins, punch your hole, and  using a brad adhere your bobbin to your kraft card. Now just adhere your kraft card to your page!

I did the same thing with some Maya Road buttons but just sewed them onto the page!

I also created a couple of other pockets to hold scissors, rulers, needles, etc.!

The final part of this kit was adding the embellishments! Maya Road chipboard Sew cute chipboard pieces , Maya Road trims, pins, and kraft tags, floss, felt, the sky is the limit!

Thanks for stopping by!!  Happy creating with Maya Road!!!  Shelley
