Soar Butterfly Banner

Maya Road | Maya Road

Hey everyone!!  It's Melissa here and I am very, VERY excited to be making my very first post here.  Someone pinch me, OY!!  Ok, I'm pinched enough, I have much to share so let's dive right in!

Hopefully you were able to catch the sneak peek posts over on the Maya Road Company Blog because it is chock-full of amazing NEW Maya Road goodies! I am thrilled to be able to share with you one of the projects I created.

This "SOAR" butterfly banner was created using the new Soar Butterfly Album, being released at the upcoming Summer CHA this week!  I love this album, especially because of the die-cut back and front pages which I was able to use as a beginning and end embellishment to my banner.  Check it out...

To achieve the distressed painted look of my chipboard, I simply added random specks of Maya Resist directly to my chipboard and allowed that to dry.  It doesn't take long at all, so I then added a coat of some pink acrylic paint on top of that.  When that dried, you simply peel up the dried Maya Resist and then you easily achieve that aged and tattered look!  This technique has been mentioned before on this blog, and I love it so much, it was worth being mentioned again. :)  A quick coat of crystal laquer on top gave it that added shine and protection!

Here I used the new Metal Bottlecap Flower as a centerpiece.  I simply put a thin coat of white acrylic paint on it and then "aged" it with some distress ink.

For my letter "O," I backed it with one of the new Canvas Butterflies as to just continue on with my butterfly theme. ;)  I can't wait to see what you creative folks out there do with these new canvas ones...I saw quite the excitement over them!

And oh my....the new Tea Garden Organza Trim...need I say more??

See any more new goodies here?  How about the Vintage Lace Daisy atop one of the Vintage Wood Doilies?  Oh! Oh!  How could I forget a piece of the new Sky Blue Small Organza Rose Ribbon...one of my new faves for sure!

Finally, I used the new Velvet Resin Flower along with one of the Raspberry Beads as an accent on my final butterfly.

Whew! That was a lot, wasn't it? :)  Now, I only pointed out some of the NEW items being released this week, but be sure and scroll down for a full list of the Maya Road items that I used here.  Hope you enjoyed the project and are loving all the fabulous sneaks!

Until next time....

Melissa
